Windett Gets First Victory

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College picked up a 13-2 win over Hood College to give Head Coach Debbie Windett her first victory on the sidelines for the Wolverines.

Wesley (1-1) snapped an 11-game Capital Athletic Conference losing streak with the win, dating back to the 2008 season.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 5-1 lead at the half and then outscored the Blazers (1-1) 8-1 in the second half.

Katelyn Randes (Odenton, Md./Arundel), Meggan Apgar (Smyrna, Del./St. Thomas More), Chelsea Buttacavoli (Brick, N.J./Marlboro) and Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) led a balanced Wesley attack with two goals apiece.

Apgar also picked up a game-high seven ground balls, one more than Prudente. 

Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) stopped nine shots in net for her first career win.

Caitlin Lawrence led Hood with a goal and seven ground balls.  Sarah Liptrap made 12 saves.

Wesley will look to make it two in a row when they travel to Sweet Briar on Friday, March 5.
