ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - St. Mary's (Md.) opened the game with a 7-0 run and claimed an 18-4 win over Wesley College.
The Wolverines (0-2, 0-2 CAC) got on the scoreboard with the first of Mia Brocco's (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) three scores on the day 18 minutes into the action before the Seahawks (1-1, 1-1 CAC) scored six more goals to take a 13-1 lead into the half.
St. Mary's kept the pressure on, buidling a 15-1 lead before Wesley ripped off back-to-back goals. Nina Cornog (Wilmington, Del./Concord) took an assist from Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) and Brocco's second tally made cut it to 12, with 12:03 left in the game.
The Seahawks, however, closed the game with a 3-1 run.
In addition to her three goals, Brocco had two ground balls.
Aubrey Mirkin led all players with six points in the game with three goals and three assists. She also had four ground balls and four draw controls.
Emily Shafer had a pair of goals and two assists, while Maggie Macleay and Lauren Bennett also had two goal afternoons. Lauriann Parker dished out a game-high four assists.
Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made 10 saves for the Wolverines.
Wesley will search for its first win of the year when Neumann visits Scott D. Miller Stadium on February 26.
