Wolverines Fall at Disney

ORLANDO, Fla. - Alvernia jumped out to a 9-1 lead at halftime and cruised to a 20-9 victory over Wesley.

The Crusaders (3-0) scored twice in the opening 1:13 of the contest, but a goal by Mia Paltrineri (Middletown, Del./Middletown) cut it 2-1 with just under 27 minutes left in the first half.

Alvernia ended the half with a seven goal run to take control of the contest. 

In the second half, the Wolverines (1-4) closed the game with a 4-1 run, but the Crusaders had already extended their lead to 19-5.

Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) led Wesley with three goals, while Jen Jacobs (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) and Paltrineri each scored twice.  Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made 14 saves.

Alyssa Verrillo had a game-high five goals for Alvernia.  Sarah George and Heather Coppolla both scored three times in the win.

Jennifer Czarnecki had nine saves for the Crusaders.

The Wolverines are idle before hosting Rosemont on March 15 at 7:00 PM.
