ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount (Va.) used a 7-1 run in the second half to break open a close game and held on for a 24-19 win over Wesley College.
The Wolverines (5-8, 1-6 CAC) trailed just 16-13 after a free position shot by Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) with 25:44 to play. Stephanie Flood scored on a free position for the Saints, starting Marymount's (4-7, 1-4 CAC) decisive run.
Wesley closed the game with a 5-1 run, but there was not enough time left in the game to close the gap.
Brocco led the Wolverines with goals and added five ground balls. Four of her goals came via free position shots.
Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) paced Wesley with six points, scoring four goals and adding a pair of assists. Katelyn Randes (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and Jen Jacobs (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) each scored three times, while Jessica Franklin (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) chipped in with a pair of scores.
Mia Paltrineri (Middletown, Del./Middletown) had four ground balls, four draw controls and caused four turnovers.
Tancy Weatherford scored three of her game-high seven goals in the Saints' second half run. She also had an assist eight draw controls. Flood added five goals and two assists, while Lindsay Quinn scored five goals, as well.
The Wolverines will look to get back in the win column on April 5 with a road trip to Lancaster Bible.
