LANCASTER, Pa. - Wesley College held Lancaster Bible to just one goal in the final 40 minutes of play to claim a 14-3 victory.
The Wolverines (6-8) led just 3-2 after a Charger (2-5) goal by Whitney Heise with 20:42 to play in the first half. But Nina Cornog (Wilmington, Del./Concord) scored a minute later off a feed from Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) to start a 6-1 run to end the half.
The run put the Wesley ahead 9-3 at the intermission, including all four of Jen Jacobs' (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) goals on the afternoon.
The Wolverines held Lancaster Bible scoreless in the second half, adding five more goals to their side of the scoreboard.
Brocco and Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) each had five points in the game. Brocco had three goals and two assists, while Prudente scored twice and assisted on three tallies.
Brocco became the first Wolverine since 2009 to reach 40 goals in a season.
Cornog finished the day with two goals, two assists, seven ground balls and three draw controls.
Jessica Franklin (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) scored twice and caused a pair of turnovers.
Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) went the distance in goal and made nine saves.
Heise did her best to keep the Chargers in the game and had a hand in all three scores. She found the back of the net twice and assisted on the other goal.
The Wolverines held a 28-16 advantage on ground balls and turned the ball over just seven times.
Erin Leonard made eight saves for Lancaster Bible.
