DOVER, Del. - Wesley College set a school record for goals in a season, but No. 4 Salisbury ran away from the Wolverines for an 18-2 win.
It was actually Wesley (6-11, 1-7 CAC) who struck first as Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) scored with 26:37 left in the first half. After that, however, the Sea Gulls (14-2, 7-1 CAC) reeled off 11 scores in a row, including three each by Shelby Nemecek and Roxanne Raab.
Brocco scored again for the Wolverines off an assist by Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford), but two more Salisbury scores made it 13-2 at the half.
The Sea Gulls added five more goals in the second half, while holding Wesley off the scoreboard.
Raab had a monster game with five goals and four assists. McKenzie White scored twice and assisted on three other goals, while Maggie Roundy matched her five points with a goal and four assists. Nemecek finished with four goals.
In addition to her two goals, Brocco also had four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) stopped nine shots in goal for the Wolverines. Ashton Wheatley made three for the Sea Gulls.
With two goals in the game, Wesley finishes the 2011 season with 188, a new school record surpassing last year's team total of 187.
