DOVER, Del. – After splitting its first two games, Wesley College's women's lacrosse team will look to get over .500 as it travels to Aston, Pa., for a 4 pm draw at Neumann University on Friday, March 2. Through two games, the Wolverines (1-1) have been led offensively by captain Alyssa Prudente and junior Jen Jacobs. The lone senior on the squad, Prudente has tallied six points on two goals and a team-high four assists. She also has five ground balls which is second on Wesley to goalkeeper Alyssa Batty's eight. Jacobs paces the Wolverines with five goals while her classmate Jessica Frankin has four, all of which came in a season opening win over St. Joseph's (L.I.)
Defensively for the Navy & White, Batty anchors the squad and is averaging 13.5 saves per game while stopping 54 percent of her shots. Junior Elizabeth Groom has caused a team-high four turnovers while freshman Kaylee Miller is right behind her with three.
Neumann (2-0) defeated Rutgers-Camden and Arcadia to open the season and possesses a well-balanced scoring attack. Erica Crabtree leads the Knights with 11 goals, but Alexandra Bohen (six goals), Meghan Garsey (five goals, five assists) and Koula Gregor (five goals, two assists) are major threats to rattle the cage. The foursome are also among the team leaders in ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers.
In net for the Knights, Sam Kotowkski has played all 120 minutes, stopping 45.5% of her shots while allowing just nine goals per game.
Following the matchup with Neumann, Wesley returns home for three straight games against Notre Dame (Md.), Penn St.-Abington and Centenary (N.J.).
