Prudente Makes History In Loss
YORK, Pa. - Senior Alyssa Prudente became the first Wesley women's lacrosse player to record 100 goals and 50 assists in their career in a 20-6 loss at Capital Athletic Conference rival York (Pa.) Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines fall to 4-4 on the season and 0-2 in the CAC while the Spartans improve to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Prudente recorded five points on four goals and an assist to set the milestone. All of her goals came in the second half and it was her fifth hat trick of the season. Prudente ranks in the top three at Wesley in points, goals and assists and is on pace to shatter the points and assists records held by Jade Martin (167, 06-09) and Leslie Cervenka (56, 07-09), respectively.
Jen Jacobs also scored a pair of goals for the Wolverines on the day as she is also approaching the 100 point mark. Jorden Lutz grabbed a team-high three ground balls and also led the squad with three caused turnovers while Alyssa Batty made 11 saves on the afternoon. Nina Cornog also controlled three draws to lead the Navy & White.
York scored the game's first nine goals before Jacobs got Wesley on the board with 17:21 left in the first half. The Spartans scored four more before the end of the half and the first two of the second before Prudente tallied her first goal 3:05 into the second half.
Down 18-3, Prudente scored the game's next three goals, cutting the deficit to 18-6 with 7:39 remaining but that was as close as Wesley would get the remainder of the game.
Wesley is back home for two games, starting with CAC foe Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday, March 21, at 4 pm.
