ARLINGTON, Va. – The Wesley College women's lacrosse team fell at Marymount (Va.), 14-7, in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park. The Wolverines are now 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the CAC while the Saints improve to 5-2 on the year and 1-0 in league play.
Marymount scored the game's first five goals before Jen Jacobs found the back of the net on an extra-man opportunity with 20:31 left in the first half. The Saints responded with three-straight goals before Jessica Franklin scored on a free position and went into halftime with a 9-2 lead.
Wesley played even with Marymount in the second half as both teams scored five goals apiece. The Saints scored the first three before Tristin Burris and Jacobs scored nine seconds apart on assists by Nina Cornog and Mia Brocco, respectively.
A pair of Saints goals extended their lead to ten but Jorden Lutz, Jacobs and Burris tallied three-consecutive to wrap up the game.
Jessica Giaccone had a team-high four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Cornog controlled four draws on the day.
The Wolverines are back in action on Sunday, March 24, when they travel to take on Bridgewater (Va.) in a 3 pm start.
