BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Jessica Franklin recorded her first hat trick of the season but it was not enough as the Wesley College women's lacrosse team fell at Bridgewater (Va.), 15-7, on Sunday afternoon at Jopson Field. The Wolverines fall to 3-6 while the Eagles improve to 2-6 on the year.
Wesley also got two goals and an assist from Mia Brocco while Jen Jacobs and Nina Cornog found the back of the net once. Jorden Lutz tallied a team-high four ground balls while Linnea Cavallo led all players with three caused turnovers.
Bridgewater scored the game's first three goals but three-straight scores from Brocco, Jacobs and Franklin tied the score with 15:07 left in the first half. However, the Eagles answered back with three more of their own and went into halftime with a 6-3 lead.
Cornog cut the deficit to just two goals with an unassisted tally with 26:18 remaining but Bridgewater scored the next four and seven of the next nine to put the match out of reach.
Alyssa Batty stopped a career-high 24 shots, her third game of the year with at least 20 saves.
The Wolverines are back in action on Saturday, March 30, when they travel to take on CAC rival St. Mary's in a 3 pm draw.
