Women’s Lacrosse Drops CAC Game at St. Mary’s

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Jen Jacobs and Jessica Franklin each scored a pair of goals as the Wesley College women's lacrosse team dropped a Capital Athletic Conference game at St. Mary's (Md.), 17-4 on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines fall to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the CAC while the Seahawks improve to 5-6 on the year and even their league record at 1-1.

St. Mary's scored the game's first eight goals before Jessica Franklin scored on a man-up goal with 8:41 left in the first.  The Seahawks tallied the next two goals and went into halftime with a 10-1 lead.

After three SMC goals to start the second half, Franklin and Jacobs scored back-to-back on free position shots and Jacobs added another score off a pass from Jessica Giaccone with 4:46 left in regulation.

Alyssa Batty made 14 saves for the Wolverines, who also got a game-high three ground balls from Tristin Burris.

Emily Shafer led all players with four points on two goals and two assists as three Seahawks saw at least 16 minutes in goal.
