Women’s Lacrosse Routs Penn St.-Abington

DOVER, Del. – Fourteen different players tallied at least one point as the Wesley College women's lacrosse team defeated Penn St.-Abington, 18-3, on Senior Night at Scott D. Miller Stadium.  The Wolverines move to 4-7 on the year while the Nittany Lions fall to 0-7.

Jen Jacobs (4g) and Nina Cornog (1g, 3a) led the team with four points apiece while Jorden Lutz recorded a career-high three points on two goals and an assist.  Rylee Gould, Jessica Franklin, Summer Stone, Mia Brocco, Kaylee Miller and Linnea Cavallo also had multiple point s on the night.

A native of Aberdeen, Md., Jacobs scored two of Wesley's first four goals as the Wolverines jumped out on top, 4-0, before a Penn State goal with 21:13 left in the first half.  Wesley closed out the half on a 9-0 run, as nine different players tallied scores, giving the Wolverines a 13-1 halftime lead.

Cavallo scored the first goal of the second half with just under 16 minutes remaining as the Navy & White outscored Penn State, 5-2 in the second half.

Lutz was dominant on the defensive side of the ball, tallying six caused turnovers and eight ground balls.  Cornog also caused five turnovers while Miller controlled a game-high four draws.

Alyssa Batty played the first 44-plus minutes and made a pair of saves, as did Katherine Cooke who played the final 15:54.

Nichole Hayes scored two goals for PSU while Tori Kimberly added another. Sandy Cao stopped six Wolverines shots.

Wesley returns to action on Saturday, April 6, when it travels to take on Centenary (N.J.) in a 2 pm draw.
