Women’s Lacrosse Falls in Season Finale

DOVER, Del. – With three straight goals by Jen Jacobs in the second half, the Wesley College women's lacrosse team closed to within five goals, but that was as close as it would get as York (Pa.) defeated the Wolverines, 16-6 on Saturday afternoon. Wesley's season comes to an end at 6-9 overall and 0-6 in the Capital Athletic Conference.

The Spartans scored eight straight times to open the games before a free position shot by Nina Cornog, followed by a goal by Mia Brocco put the Wolverines on the board.  York scored once more to close out the first half to take a 9-2 halftime lead.

After York scored first in the second half to take an eight-goal lead, Jacobs scored three times in just under five minutes to cut the deficit to 10-5 with 23:10 left in the game.

York then responded with five goals of its own to seal the victory.

Jorden Lutz led all players with four caused turnovers to go with a team-high three ground balls.  Cornog was credited with a team-high three draw controls and Alyssa Batty stopped 15 Spartans shots.

Kim Wayson recorded a game-high five points on four goals and an assist for York.
