Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Goucher in Season Opener

TOWSON, Md. – Wesley College's women's lacrosse team dropped its season-opener at Goucher, 13-2 on Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.  The match was called with 11:27 remaining due to field conditions.

The Wolverines scored the game's first goal as Mckenzie Marvel found the back of the net 4:54 into the game.  It was all Gophers from there as they scored 11-straight to close out the half and the opener of the second period to take a 12-1 lead.

Kaitlin Brennan answered with a free-position goal before another Goucher tally to round out the scoring.

Jessica Giaccone had a team-high two draw controls while Stephanie Blakely caused a pair of turnovers.

Savannah Clough started in goal in her first collegiate game and stopped seven shots on the day.

Goucher's Sophie Smith had a team-high five points on three goals and two assists.

The Wolverines host Merchant Marine on Saturday, February 28 at 3 pm.
