DOVER, Del. – The Wesley women's lacrosse defeated the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 21-6, on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines advance to 1-1 while the Mariners fall to 0-1 on the season.
Rylee Gould started the scoring off with an unassisted goal in the second minute of the game. The scoring didn't stop there as Gould would score a total of three goals in the game as well as assisting on eight of the rest. Kaitlyn Ennis notched a hat trick while Jessica Giaccone scored a career high five goals in the win. Seven other Wolverines scored in the game with Summer Stone rounding out the game, putting one away with just one second left in the game.
Madeline Thibeault scored a hat trick for the Mariners but it was not enough to bring a lead to her team.
In her second game in goal for the Wolverines, Savannah Clough made four saves while Rachel Smith saved seven for the Mariners.
Wesley travels to Centenary (N.J.) for a 4:00 PM start on Saturday, March 7 against the Cyclones.
