DOVER, Del. – Kaitlyn Ennis and Mckenzie Marvel both scored four goals to lead the Wesley College women's lacrosse team to a 11-9 win over Gwynedd-Mercy on Tuesday night at Scott D. Miller Stadium. With the victory, the Wolverines now stand at 5-9 overall while the Griffins fall to 6-8.
With the scored tied at three with 13:45 left in the first half, Ennis found Marvel for her second tally of the game with 11:58 left. Ennis then scored 22 seconds later on a free-position and added another with 9:50 remaining to give Wesley a 6-3 lead.
The teams traded goals to end the half and to open the second period. With the Wolverines clinging to an 8-6 lead with just under 20 minutes left, Wesley scored three-straight as Allison Perugini, Rodneisha Scott and Stephanie Blakely all found the back of the net.
Gwynedd fought back scoring three-straight to close out the game but could not get over the hump.
Aside from her game-high five points, Ennis also led all players in ground balls (6), draw controls (4) and caused turnovers (3).
Rylee Gould was credited with a pair of assists on the night.
In goal, Savannah Clough made eight saves.
Wesley will have a quick turnaround as it hosts Mary Washington at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 15.
