DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Women's Lacrosse team fell on Wednesday night, dropping a non-conference matchup to Misericordia University, 13-4.
Four different Wolverines scored and Savannah Clough made 16 saves, but it wasn't enough to propel the Navy and White to victory. Nyi Wright finished with a team-high in caused turnovers with four and ground balls with six.
Wesley dropped behind early as Misericordia jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 15 minutes, but Foley Wassmuth got the team on the board with a goal midway through the first quarter. The Cougars netted two more before the halftime whistle to take a 6-1 lead into the break.
In the second half, Wesley's best goal came with just under 18 minutes left. Clough made a huge save, dished a quick transition pass to the midfield where the Wolverines strung together a few stick-to-stick passes finding Fallon Fore in the attacking zone. Fore drew the final defender before dishing to Bailey Olds, who quick-sticked it past the MU goaltender for the score. Brianna Bacon and Maddison Cypher each scored for the Wolverines in the second half, but the Cougars' attack and pressure defense proved to be too much as they earned the 13-4 victory.
The Wolverines fall to 1-2 on the season and will return to action on Saturday, March 5 in another non-conference contest against Mt. St. Vincent.
