DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College Women's Lacrosse team were shell shocked in their conference opener, taking on Christopher Newport in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday. The squad fell to the Captains 19-1.

Foley Wassmuth tallied the Wolverines' only goal of the day, coming in the first half. The forward beat a defender from the left flank, spun between two defenders and beat the CNU goalkeeper top-shelf, stickside for the goal.
Christopher Newport continued to control the game in the second half, outshooting Wesley 14-4 and earning five out of six draw controls.
Clough finished with 13 saves on the day, but took the loss between the sticks for the Wolverines. Nyi Wright finished with five caused turnovers and three ground balls. Khadijah Sanders scooped a team-high five ground balls.
Wesley moves to 2-4 on the season with an 0-1 mark in conference play. The team will return to action on Saturday, March 19 against nationally ranked York College.
