Late marker propels Wesley over Hood in season opener

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's lacrosse team picked up a season opening 13-12 win over the Hood Blazers in a back-and-forth matchup Saturday afternoon.

In a game that featured seven ties and seven lead changes, Naomi Pitts-Reynolds scored the eventual game-winning goal with 1:25 remaining in regulation.

Paige Brehm led the Wolverines with three goals and an assist. Brehm also picked up three ground balls. Fallon Fore, Brianna Bacon and Kaitlin Brennan each notched two goals while Bacon and Brennan eaxh added an assist and a ground ball to their game totals.

Bailey Olds assisted on two shots for the Wolverines.

Shelby Schirmer stopped 12 shots to record a win in net for the Wolverines.

Kara Phoubandith paced the Blazers with three goals and an assist.

The Wolverines (1-0) will hit the road next Saturday when they take on the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
