Wesley holds off Notre Dame for third-straight win

DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College women's lacrosse team outlasted the Notre Dame (Md.) Gators 16-15 on Saturday at Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium.

The back-and-forth game went down to the wire with Wesley playing down for the majority of the game. Notre Dame took the 15-14 lead late in the second half with 2:51 left in regulation. Wesley tied the game at 15 with 2:21 when Paige Brehm scored after she controlled the draw. A little under a minute later, Fallon Fore put away the eventual game-winning goal with 1:27 remaining in the game.

Fore, Brehm and Ashley Luna each tallied four goals for the Wolverines. Fore also registered four draw controls, three assists, and two ground balls. Brehm corralled seven draws, caused four turnovers and picked up three ground balls while Luna scooped five ground balls.

Kathleen Martin and Brianna Bacon recorded two goals apiece in the win. Bacon added two caused turnovers and an assist. Allison Perugini and Maddison Cypher each notched an assist

Shelby Schirmer stonewalled nine Gator shots in the win.

Megan Morales led the Gators with five goals and two assists.

The Wolverines are now tied for the best start in program history with their third consecutive victory. The 2007 Wolverines also started their season 3-0.

The Wolverines (3-0) will head up to Pennsylvania on Monday to battle the Bryn Mawr Owls. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
