LANCASTER, Pa. – A back-and-forth matchup with the Lancaster Bible Chargers didn't go in Wesley's favor as the women's lacrosse team dropped a close 15-14 decision to the Chargers on Monday.
The game was tied at eight at halftime with neither time having a larger lead than three. The Wolverines led 13-12 following Allison Perugini's shorthanded goal with 6:55 remaining in the second half. But, the Chargers tallied three goals to take the 15-13 lead in the waning moments of the game. Ashley Luna did cut the Charger advantage to 15-14 with 21 seconds left in the game but the Chargers stifled the attempted Wolverine comeback.
Luna and Fallon Fore each tallied four goals and an assist for the Wolverines. Fore also captured three draws and picked up two ground balls.
Alyssa Wesner had a game-high five goals for the Chargers.
The Wolverines resume conference play on Wednesday when they head down Route 13 to take on the No. 13 Salisbury Seagulls. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
