LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference recently released it's first-ever preseason coaches' poll and the Wesley College women's lacrosse team were slated to finish seventh in the conference.
Cabrini collected 34 points and four first-place votes to be considered the favorite to win the conference after winning seven-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference titles. Former Capital Athletic Conference foe Marymount was picked to finish second with 31 points and two first-place votes. Marywood received 27 points and the final first-place vote to be slated third. Neumann, Immaculata, Gwynedd Mercy and Wesley rounded out the poll.
Under the direction of third-year head coach Jillian Lontz, the Wolverines have had great success in out-of-conference play. In two seasons under Lontz, Wesley has started both seasons 5-0 and recorded a 10-4 record in non-conference play. The Wolverines will lean on the leadership of seniors Brianna Bacon, Paige Brehm, Fallon Fore and Taylor Speicher to carry the load into the 2019 season.
Wesley will open the season on Saturday, March 2 when they travel to Lancaster, Pa. to take on the Lancaster Bible Chargers. The non-conference game is set for a 1 p.m. start.
