Women’s Lacrosse cruises past Hollins, 13-1 to open 2019 season

ROANOKE, Va. – The Wesley College women's lacrosse team earned their first win of the 2019 campaign when they defeated Hollins, 13-1 on Monday.

Wesley's four seniors combined for the 10 first-half goals. Paige Brehm and Fallon Fore led Wesley's offensive attack with four goals and one assist each.  Along with a team-high three draw controls, Fore scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers. Brehm recorded seven ground balls, a pair of draw controls and caused two turnovers.

Taylor Speicher and Brianna Bacon both tallied two-goal performances. Bacon also dished out two assists and helped out on defense with two caused turnovers.

Kassie Dieter netted a goal and handed out two helpers for three points. Dieter led the defense with 10 ground balls in the win. Emily Caldarelli tallied six ground balls and two assists.

Maria Rowland tallied a save en route to her first-career win in net for Wesley.

Wesley outshot Rollins, 23-5. The Wolverines took advantage of their free positions, scoring on 3-of-5 free-position shots in the game.

Allie Helmbrecht scored the lone goal for Hollins in the final minute of the game.

Wesley (1-0) wraps up their spring break trip to Virginia when they take on the Sweet Briar Vixen on Wednesday, Mar. 6. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
