WASHINGTON, D.C. - Wesley College scored early and often defeating Galladet 12-1 in a Capital Athletic Conference match.
Gina Orrben put Wesley (3-1) on the board just 43 seconds into the game with help from the first of Julia DeFelice's three assists on the evening. Minutes later, Lacey Smith scored on what proved to be the game-winner at 6:19. Orrben and Smith each scored again in the half before Gallaudet (0-3) earned their only tally of the game to make it 4-1 at the half.
Wesley scored at 46:22 off a goal from Megan Upham to open the flood gates on an eight-goal half. In addition to two goals from Kelly Crawford, Wesley received goals from five different Wolverines. Amanda Horkey preceded Crawford's first goal at the 64 minute mark. Georgia Haubrich scored in the 74th minute with Megan Innocenzi scoring two minutes later.
After playing goalie for the first 45 minutes, Kim Fearnbach played out and scored in the 76th minute. Crawford scored her second in the 79th minute with Katie Chiolan rounding out an impressive scoring streak in the 80th minute.
Wesley's Christine Oliver played the final 45 minutes in goal, but didn't face any shots.
Wesley travels to Rt. 13 rival Salisbury University on Wednesday, September 17 with a 4:30 p.m. start. The Seagulls are currently 2-1-2, but have not played a CAC opponent yet.
