Dover, Del. - Wesley's attempt at a defensive stand went by the wayside as Elizabethtown College's Katelyn Roderick headed in a cross from fellow Blue Jay Erin Scott with 16 ticks of the clock left in the 2nd overtime.

Playing a defensive style from the onset, Wesley (3-4) was badly outshot by the Blue Jays 27 to 6, but solid goaltending by Kim Fearnbach (Pennington, N.J.) kept the Wolverines in the game as she turned away 11 Blue Jay shots.

Wesley had its chances as both Julia DeFelice (Tinton Falls, N.J.) and Gina Orrben (Hockessin, Del.) each had a shot on goal.  Wesley ended the game with 3 shots on goal.

In the 90th minute, a minor controversy allowed Wesley to pass into the 1st overtime period.  Wesley was whistled for a foul and as Blue Jay striker Brooke Dotterer lined up for the free kick, time ran out, and the ensuing goal was disallowed.

In the two subsequent overtime periods, Wesley continued to turn away scoring chances from the Blue Jays.  Wesley earned a chance at the win in the 105th minute when DeFelice directed a header toward the goal from inside 10 yards, but Blue Jay goalie, Angela Freeland was up to the task with the last second save.

The loss leaves Wesley at 3-4 on the season and is the third straight 1-0 loss. Earlier this week, Wesley fell to both Salisbury and Hood before this heartbreaking loss. In addition to the second straight loss in the last 30 seconds of the match.

Wesley will try to shake off the loss hosting St. Mary's (Md.) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 at the Dr. Scott D. Miller Stadium for a Capital Athletic Conference matchup.
