GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - Defense was the name of the game in the season opener for both Wesley College and Gwynedd-Mercy as the two squads battled to a 0-0 tie.
The Griffins (0-0-1) held a 15-9 advantage in shots over Wesley (0-0-1), but the Wolverines defense was up to the challenge.
Goalkeeper Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) made six saves to pick up the shutout.
Kristie Pollock stopped five shots for Gwynedd-Mercy.
Wesley will look to keep up the defensive pressure and add some offense on Saturday, September 4, when the Wolverines host Neumann.
