TOWSON, Md. - Wesley College's Lacey Smith (Logan Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional) scored her first goal of the year, but it was not enough as Goucher held on to defeat Wesley 2-1 in non-conference play.

Smith came up with a loose ball in the box and shot it into the top left corner in the 80th minute, but the Wolverines could not dig out of a 2-0 hole against the Gophers.

Neither team scored in the first half, but Goucher's Sisley Pumilla scored just three and a half minutes into the second stanza and Shay Kettner added what proved to be the game-winner in the 61st minute.

Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) made four saves for Wesley, while Kellen Matthews stopped a pair of shots for Goucher.

Wesley is back in action on October 26 when Shenandoah visits Scott D. Miller Stadium.
