ARLINGTON, Va. - The Wesley College women's soccer team started conference play off on the right foot with a 1-0 victory over Marymount (Va.).

The win improved the Wolverines to 4-1 on the year, marking their best start since the 2007 season.  It was also their first road win in Capital Athletic Conference action since 2009.

Samantha Lyon (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) deposited her first goal of the year with an assist from Chelsi Biener (Newfield, N.J./Delsea Regional) on a cross from the top left of the box to the far post in the 20th minute for what proved to be the game's only marker.

The Wesley defense did the rest as goalkeeper Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) earned her first shutout of the year.

The Wolverines host Goucher on September 17 at 6:00 PM.
