DOVER, Del. – Sophomore Chelsi Biener scored two goals as Wesley College's women's soccer team shutout Cedar Crest College, 4-0, on Friday night at Scott D. Miller Stadium in the season opener for both teams.  Her multi-goal effort was the second of her career, with the first coming against Valley Forge Christian on September 26, 2011.

The Wolverines controlled the ball nearly the entire game, holding a 32-1 shot advantage over the Falcons.  The Navy & White also took seven corner kicks.

Freshman Morgan Warrington got Wesley on the board first as sophomore Kelly Edmunds flicked a ball to the left side of the goal which Warrington hammered home.  Then, 48 seconds later, with just nine seconds remaining in the first half, Biener blasted a 40-yard shot from the right hash to put the Wolverines on top 2-0 going into the half.

Wesley kept the momentum going early in the second half and Edmunds took a flick-on-pass from Brooke Cicale to give Wesley a three-goal lead in the 49th minute.  Just over five minutes later, Edmunds assisted on Biener's second goal of the game, another long blast from near midfield that sailed over the goalkeepers outstretched arms.

Edmunds took a team-high nine shots for the Wolverines, while Warrington took six, Biener, five, freshman Megan DeFalco, four and freshman Karysa Pikoulas, three.

Senior goalkeeper Sydney Kahan was untested in her 71 minutes of action and Samantha Brannigan faced just one shot in her 19 minutes of playing time.

Wesley returns to action tomorrow night when its hosts DeSales at 6:00 pm.
