Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Cairn

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's soccer team shutout Cairn University, 3-0, on Saturday night at Scott D. Stadium.  With the victory, the Wolverines improve to 5-2-1 while the Highlanders fall to 0-4.

Samantha Brannigan made her first career start in goal for Wesley, and made one save in her 90 minutes of action for her first career clean sheet. The Highlanders took three shots on the night.

Megan DeFalco was credited with the game-winner as she put the Wolverines on top with a goal at 15:46.  Kelly Edmunds added another goal later in the first half to give Wesley a 2-0 halftime lead.

Edmunds scored again with 17:22 left to play off an assist from Chelsi Biener.

Wesley, who is back in action at Goucher on September 19, outshot Cairn, 30-3, and held a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks.
