Women’s Soccer Falls Short Against Washington

DOVER, Del. – A late goal by Natalie Trujillo was not enough as the Wesley College women's soccer team fell to Washington College, 2-1, on Monday night at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines now stand at 3-2-1 overall while the Shorewomen improve to 2-2-1.

Washington got its goals in the 31st and 38th minute in very similar fashion as Suzanne Patinella collected rebounds and put the ball into an empty net.

Wesley went into the break behind by a pair of goals but Trujillo booted a ball from about 45 yards out just over a leaping goalie at 86:01.  Assisting on the play was Kerri Pagels who was deep on the left side and passed the ball to Trujillo near the center of the field.

The Wolverines kept up the attack for the next 3:59 and wound up outshooting Washington, 12-10, but were unable to get the equalizer.

Samantha Brannigan made six saves on the night for Wesley, who travels to Neumann for a 7 pm start on September 18.
