Women’s Soccer Falls to Widener on Late PK

DOVER, Del. – Playing shorthanded, the Wesley College women's soccer team battled hard for 90 minutes but fell to undefeated Widener, 1-0, on Wednesday night at Scott D. Miller Stadium.  The Wolverines now stand at 3-4-1 overall while the Pride improve to 8-0-1.

With both of its goalies out, midfielder Morgan Warrington got the call in goal for Wesley.  While making her first appearance ever between the pipes, Warrington made nine saves including a spectacular diving save in the opening minutes of the match.

Widener's loan goal came on a penalty kick at 88:43 which Karen Thomas shot into the top right corner of the goal. The Pride outshot the Wolverines, 26-7.

Kerri Pagels took two shots, both of which were on target, to lead Wesley.

Valarie Perretti was credited with five saves for Widener.

The Wolverines return to action on September 28 when they travel to take on Frostburg State in its Capital Athletic Conference opener at 4 pm.
