Wolverines Keep Scoring, Down Lehman 3-0

DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Women's Soccer team kept their high-powered offense churning as the Wolverines earned a 3-0 victory over Lehman College on Saturday night at Drass Field.

Aleya Cummings maintained her Division III leading scoring pace, netting a pair of goals, her 11th and 12th of the season. Janiah Moore added a score in the waning minutes as well. Sam Brannigan was called into action just once in 78:48 but came away with the save. Amanda Deputy finished the game in net for the Wolverines without being challenged.

It didn't take long for the nation's top scorer to strike. Cummings found the net just 1:07 into the game, swiping the ball from a Lehman defender and chipping the keeper for a goal in the second minute of play. The tally marked the only score of the first half as the Wolverines took their 1-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Wolverines mounted the pressure and finally got the Lightning to crack once again. Cummings netted another goal in the 54th minute, curling a 25-yard free kick into the top corner of the net. Janiah Moore netted her goal in the 74th minute, taking the ball off the foot of a Lehman defender, beating another Lightning back, and ripping an inside-out shot to the near post for the score.

Wesley improves to 4-2-0 with the victory and will return to action on Sept. 21 when they host Hood College.
