Wolverines Drop CAC Match to No. 23 CNU

DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Women's Soccer team fell to one of the nation's best teams on Saturday night, dropping their Capital Athletic Conference match to No. 23 Christopher Newport University, 9-1.

Katie Ford finished with the Wolverines' tally on the night while Sam Brannigan made a career-high 17 saves. Amanda Deputy made a save as well over the final 10 minutes of play.

The Wolverines were held without a shot on goal in the first half as the Captains dictated the pace of play and placed 13 shots on goal in the first frame.

Wesley found the net in the 57th minute of play. The Wolverines pressured the Captains back line into a bad clear. The poor attempt went directly to Ford at the corner of the 18-yard box and the forward chipped the keeper to get Wesley on the board. Ford's tally was the only offense the Wolverines could muster as the squad fell to the Captains 9-1.

Wesley will return to action on Wednesday, October 5 when the squad hosts Marymount in another CAC bout.
