HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Wesley College Women's Soccer team could not manage to find the net as they fell 2-0 to Penn State Harrisburg in a Capital Athletic Conference match on Wednesday afternoon in central Pennsylvania.
Lexie Gausepohl made five saves for the Wolverines, but took the loss between the pipes. Wesley was outshot 22-7 with only four shots on goal. Aline Check, Janiah Moore, Sammy Williams and Katie Ford each recorded an on-frame attempt but none struck gold for the Wesley offense.
The Nittany Lions scored in the 13th minute, finishing off a ball that glanced off the Wesley goalkeeper to take a 1-0 lead. In the 37th minute, Wesley midfielder Aline Check put a shot on net but it was turned away as the Wolverines went into the break trailing by a goal.
In the second half, Wesley cracked three shots on frame but could not find a finish. The Nittany Lions added to their lead later in the half getting an important insurance goal and keeping Wesley off the board for the remainder of the game.
Wesley moved to 4-7-1 on the season with a 0-5-0 mark in conference play. The squad will continue to seek their first conference win of the year when they take on St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
