KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Wesley College women's soccer team was recently named a recipient of the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.
The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is given to NSCAA members that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game. The award is given on four levels that are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players/coaches divided by the team's total number of games played.
The Wolverines were given only three yellow cards during the 16 games in the 2016 season, placing them in the Silver level. The Silver Award is given to teams that accumulate cards in between 11-30% of their total games.
The Wolverines were one of four Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) member institutions to be honored with the award. Frostburg State, Mary Washington and St. Mary's all received Silver Awards.
