DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's soccer team outlasted the Rosemont Ravens, 3-2 on Saturday in non-conference action.
Wesley didn't take long to get on the board at the start of the game. Aleya Cummings drew a foul just outside the box 30 seconds into the game. Cummings then hit a bender that went upper-90 in the top right corner out of reach of the Rosemont goalie.
Rosemont nodded the game up at one in the 18th minute when Madeline Paulino scored off of a failed clearance in the box.
Wesley regained the lead in the 50th minute when Cummings put away a rebound from Janiah Moore's shot for her second goal of the game.
Moore scored a goal of her own to double the lead when she drilled a shot from 25 yards out, set up by Amanda Moccaldi from a pass from the midfield.
Rosemont pulled the Wesley lead back to one in the 79th minute but Wesley's defense held Rosemont off, including a diving penalty kick stop by Krista Salvadore during the latter part of the second half.
Salvadore made six saves in goal for the win.
The Wolverines (2-1) will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Towson, Md. to take on the Goucher Gophers. Game time is at 7 p.m.
