Women’s soccer rally falls short against Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Wesley College women's soccer team rallied late but were unable to down the Marymount Saints on the road, falling 3-2 in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) action.

The Saints would come right out of the gate as they scored all three of their goals in the first half.

The Wolverines would not go quietly as seven minutes into the second half, Megan Shacklock would sail the ball over the goalkeeper's head to score the Wolverines' first goal of the night.

In the 73rd minute, Aleya Cummings would get a through ball into the attacking zone and win a one-on-one battle with the Marymount goalkeeper to cut the lead down to 3-2.

Marymount would hold off the Wesley rally late to take the conference win away from the Wolverins.

Shacklock and Amanda Deputy would split time in net and combine for six saves on the night.

The Wolverines are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Buena Vista, Va. to take on the Knights of Southern Virginia. Kickoff for the CAC matchup is set for 5:30 p.m
