Wesley College vs Lancaster Bible College
What: Non-conference Women's Soccer game
When: Monday, Sept. 23
Where: Dover, Del.
How it happened
Back and forth play between the Lady Wolverines and the Lancaster Bible Chargers left both teams scoreless headed into halftime Monday night at Drass Field in Dover, De. However, Wesley's strong first half efforts carried directly into the second half and the team was finally rewarded with a goal just 4 and a half minutes into the half.
A brilliant sequence of passes allowed Kaitlyn Roazzi to handle the ball down the sideline where she crossed the ball towards the front of the net; the ball met Mackenzie Forsythe who finished the play with the perfect touch to send the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net. That goal is number 3 on the season for Forsythe.
The Chargers answered back in the 64th minute of the game with a hard shot from 25 yards out by Bryanna Hoover that made its way over the head of the goalie and into the net.
The Wolverines answered back quickly. Sixty seconds later a foul in the box allowed Amanda Moccaldi the opportunity for a penalty shot to give her squad the lead when she sliced the ball past the keeper with 18:30 left to play.
The excitement did not stop there for the fans of the Navy and White when Moccaldi came into play again with an assist to Madison D'Amico. D'Amico received the pass and headed the ball through a crowd of defenders to allow the Wolverines to pull ahead with a 3-1 lead.
Through incredible defensive play the Wolverines were able to hold the Chargers off for the duration of the contest and preserve the 3-1 win.

Comments from the Coach
"I think the nine-day layoff definitely hurt us a little, and I definitely expected some of that. A commitment to work hard and compete at a high level and play with energy and excitement, that was the halftime talk. The ladies needed to get going and dictate how they wanted to play and that's what they did. Lancaster Bible was a great team and really held the ball well throughout the game".
The Lady Wolverines move to 3-3 overall and will continue their season this Wednesday September 25th, 2019 at home against the Shock of Washington Adventist.
