DOVER, Del. - The Wolverines played hard against the Neumann Knights in the pouring rain.
Wesley and Neumann battled back and forth trying to get the ball into the net. Neither team was successful until the Knights fouled, giving Allison Backert an opportunity to score. Backert took the free kick, hitting the post. From there, Megan Shacklock kicked the ball into the net, scoring the first goal of the game putting Wesley up 1-0.
After halftime, both teams came back more determined than before. Wesley's Emily Caldarelli played great offense, barely being stopped by three defenders at a time.
The Wolverines and Knights defended each other well, not allowing another goal through nearly the rest of the game. With barely any time left in the game, Caldarelli scored the final goal of the game.
Wesley comes away with a win over the Knights, 2-0.
The Wolverines travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday to play the Griffins. Kick-off is set for noon.
