Women's Tennis Adds Five for 2007-08

Wesley College Head Coach Elise Coar has announced the addition of five student-athletes who will continue both their academic and athletic careers with the Wolverines.  All five will enter Wesley College as freshmen for the 2007-08 season.

Lauren Tarver of Wrightwood, California completed her third year of varsity tennis at Serrano High School with a stellar season.  She was selected as the 2006 Daily Press Girls Athlete of the Year and led her team to the Mojave River League Title and the second round of the CIF playoffs.

Kelly Morgan of Beverly, New Jersey captained her Palmyra High School team to win the Freedom Division Championship while playing at first doubles.

Kori Isken, a native of Wilmington, Delaware, posted a winning record at second singles for St. Mark's.

Glassboro, New Jersey's Holly Crittendon completed her third season of varsity play at No. 3 singles for Paul VI High School.

Amanda Bynon of South Hampton New Jersey, a four-year varsity starter, captained Seneca High School to the South Jersey Group III Title.

The quintet should bolster the Wolverines' returning core of Amy Winstanley, Tara Spillane, Nicole Lambey, and Maria Rodriguez.  Winstanley, a senior, and Lambey, a junior, are the lone upperclassman.  Spillane and Rodriguez return for their sophomore seasons.  All four were starters in 2006-07.

Wesley College finished the 2006-07 team with a 2-11 record.

Wesley Loses Match to Knights, 9-0
ASTON, Pa. - Wesley College (2-11, 1-10) lost to Neumann College by a final score of 9-0, in women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.  The conference tournament will be held on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th.  Seedings will be announced early next week.

Wesley Drops Match to Immaculata, 6-3
IMMACULATA, Pa. - Wesley College (1-9, 0-8) lost to conference opponent Immaculata University by a final score of 6-3, in women's tennis action on Monday afternoon.  Maria Rodriguez (FR, Seaford, DE/Seaford) won at #3 singles 6-3, 6-1, while Tara Spillane (FR, Springlake, NJ/Manasquan) won at #6 singles 6-3, 6-4 for the Wolverines.

The #3 doubles team of Amanda Hall (SR, Rancocas, NJ/Rancocas) and Mellisa (FR, Viola, DE/Lake Forest) won 8-3.

Wolverines Dropped by Arcadia, 8-1
DOVER, De. - Melissa Cameron (SR, Baltimore, MD/Western) was Wesley's lone-winner at #2 singles, as the Wolverines lost to conference opponent Arcadia University by a final score of 8-1, in women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.  Wesley is now 1-8 overall and 0-7 in conference.

Wesley Downed by Griffins, 9-0
GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - Wesley College (1-7, 0-6) fell to conference opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College by a final score of 9-0, in women's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon.  The loss is Wesley's sixth straight, since defeating Chestnut Hill College, 8-1.
