DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's women's tennis team won its second straight match with a 7-2 victory against visiting Lancaster Bible.
Rebecca Pennington (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) and Marina Palma (Lanham, Md./Duvall) dispatched the duo of Funk/Schmuck 8-2 at first doubles to start Wesley (2-2) off on the right foot. Stephanie Bentley (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore Central) and Kori Isken (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) snagged an 8-3 win at second doubles and Julia Wright (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) and Caitlin Grinstead (Dover, Del./Dover) followed suit at third doubles with an 8-5 victory for the sweep.
Pennington got Funk for the second time of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles. Isken bested Schmuck at second singles 6-2, 6-0. Bentley and Palma picked up wins for the Wolverines at third and fourth singles before the Chargers (1-14) got victories at fifth and sixth singles.
Wesley is idle until heading to Maryland-Eastern Shore on April 7.
