FAIRFAX, Va. – Freshmen Kiona Mency and Elizsha Streeter both set Capital Athletic Conference records and three other school-records were broken as the Wesley College women's track & field team had an impressive showing at the Patriot Games Invitational hosted by George Mason University on Saturday.
High School teammates from Hagerstown, Md., Mency broke the CAC-record in the 60m Dash (7.87) while Streeter became the first female in CAC indoor track history to break the 60-second mark in the 400m Dash, clocking in at 59.96. The duo was also a part of the school-record breaking 4x400m Relay that crossed the finish in 4:12.75. Joining the duo was junior Stevi Carpenter and sophomore Kerri Pagels.
Pagels also set a school-record on the day with a 2:29.95 performance in the 800m Run while Carpenter had a solid showing in the 400m Dash (1:02.96).
The other school-record on the day came in the high jump as freshman Tyesha Purnell of Felton, Del., bested her own mark with a 5-05.25 effort to finish third overall on the day. Only Christina Solomon of VCU and James Madison's Morgan Crewe topped Purnell on the day.
