LANDOVER, Md. – The Wesley College men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened their season on Saturday at the Terrapin Invitational, hosted by the University of Maryland.
In a field of Division I and II teams, the Wesley men finished seventh out of 17 teams. Morgan State picked up the overall men's team title.
Thomas Kalieta Jr. earned a pair of top fives at the meet, picking up the silver medal in the 300-meter dash (36.02) and finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.72).
Roland Attoh-Okine finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.41 seconds. Johnny Crenshaw also collected fifth place in the 300-meter dash, crossing the line in 36.57 seconds. TySean Couser placed sixth in the 400 meters. Christian Saulsbury ran the 60 meters in 7.05 seconds to place sixth.
Enoch Owumi tallied two top 10 times for Wesley. Owumi notched an eighth-place time in the 60-meter dash (7.13) and 10th in the 300-meter dash (37.14).
Evelina Sloboh paced the Wesley women with two top 10 finishes. Sloboh ran the 60 meters in 7.88 seconds to finish fifth. In her lone jump of the day, Sloboh finished 10th in the long jump with a mark of 5.09 meters (16-08.50).
Maysha Foster placed ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 seconds and 18th in the 300-meter dash (43.89).
Angel Hall picked up a 10th place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:01.41) and 16th in the 200-meter dash (26.89). Briana Artis collected 13th in the 300-meter dash (43.35) and 17th in the 200-meter dash (26.90). Teyri Reed recorded a 14th place finish in the triple jump (10.01m, 32-10.25). Briyanna Woods recorded a 19th place effort in the 400 meters (1:03.51).
In the throws, Jourdyn Beverly finished 12th in the weight throw (14.07m, 46-02) and 17th in the shot put (11.37m, 37-03.75). Zekiah Fountain threw the weight 13.63 meters (44-08.75) to finish in 13th place.
Also in the field, Victoria Robinson notched a mark of 9.88 meters (32-05) in the triple jump to finish 15th in the event.
The Wolverines return to the track on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they take part in the Wesley Brown Invitational, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy.
