NEW ORLEANS – Seven Wesley College women's track & field athletes earned All-Mideast Region honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season.
Rakiya Taylor paced the Wesley women with a trio of All-Region accolades. Taylor holds the top time in the region in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 24.96 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. Taylor joins Briana Artis, Maysha Foster and Evelina Sloboh for the fastest 4x100-meter relay in the Mideast Region. The tandem finished in 47.05 seconds at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier. Taylor had the fourth-fastest time in the region in the 100-meter dash when she won the event at the ECAC Championships with a time of 12.29 seconds.
Briyanna Woods collected All-Region honors in the 400-meter dash with a 57.63-second finish at the ECAC Championships.
In the field, Lekeshia Brown-Myrick had the fifth-best mark in the region in the triple jump with a leap of 11.53 meters (37-9.5) at the CAC Championships.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams.
The 4x100-meter relay team will look to win the national championship and achieve All-American status at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, starting on Thursday. The preliminaries of the 4x100-meter relay are on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. EST with the finals on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. EST.
