NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor All-Region selections were announced on Sunday. Twelve Wesley College track & field student-athletes received 17 All-Mideast Region accolades.
Seven men and five women achieved All-Region status by the USTFCCCA to lead the Atlantic East Conference.
Thomas Kalieta Jr. earned three All-Region accolades in the 200- and 400-meter dashes and as part of the 4x400-meter relay team with TySean Cousar, Jordan Dillard and John Heriot. Kalieta held the top spot in the Mideast Region in the 400-meter dash.
Heriot and Kai Cole collected two All-Region awards. Heriot finished All-Region in the 200-meter dash while Cole recorded the top time in the Mideast in the 100- and 200-meter dash to secure All-Region.
Evelina Sloboh tallied two All-Mideast awards with the fastest time in the region in the 100-meter dash and second-best 200-meter dash performance in the Mideast region.
Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay teams.
A total of 1,915 honors were handed out to athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions, which included a near-even split between men's (951) and women's programs (964).
Cole, Heriot, Kalieta and Sloboh will represent Wesley at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which begin on Thursday, May 23.
