Brekke Named to All-Conference Team
DOVER, De. - Wesley College's Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) was named to the 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Conference Honorable Mention team in volleyball, which was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.  Brekke played in all 26 matches for Wesley and had 227 kills, 66 aces and 245 digs on the season.  Brekke is Wesley's first ever volleyball player to be named to the All-Conference team.

Stacey Mlynarski (JR, Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) was named to the 2006 Push the Rock All-PAC Sportsmanship Team for her efforts during the season.

Eastern Tops Wesley, 3-0
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (8-15, 3-7) lost to conference leader Eastern University (20-9, 11-0) by a final score of 3-0 (30-22, 30-10, 30-20), in volleyball action on Tuesday night at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.  Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) led Wesley with 5 kills, 6 digs and 1 ace and Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) added 3 kills and 2 blocks on the night.  Lara Krygier (SO, Middletown, DE/Middletown) also added 3 kills and 11 digs.

Wesley Splits in Tri-Match
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (8-14) split two matches on Saturday afternoon at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium, in volleyball action.  Wesley defeated Delaware Valley College 3-2 (30-20, 27-30, 30-19, 22-30, 19-17) and lost to Goucher College 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-15).  In Wesley's first match, the Wolverines were led by Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) who had 22 kills, 15 digs and 3 aces and Lara Krygier (SO, Middletown, DE/Middletown) had 19 kills and 15 digs in the win.  Nettie Choice (FR, Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) added 11 kills, 12 blocks and 7 digs.

In the finale, Brekke again led Wesley with 6 kills, 4 digs and 1 ace.  Shauna Jacobs (FR, Ocean View, DE/Indian River) added 11 digs and 2 aces.

Wolverines Ease to Win over Mighty Macs, 3-0
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (7-13, 3-6) shut-out conference opponent Immaculata University (2-15, 1-9) by a final score of 3-0 (30-26, 30-24, 30-10), in volleyball action on Wednesday night, at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.  The Wolverines have now won four out of their last five games.  In game one, Wesley fell behind early 14-8 and after breaking the Mighty Macs serve following a Wolverine timeout Lara Krygier (SO, Middletown, DE/Middletown) had 6 consecutive service points to give Wesley a 15-14 lead and did not fall behind from that point on.  In game two, Amanda Yarnall (FR, Middletown, DE/William Penn) had 9 consecutive service points to give Wesley a 18-12 advantage early and held on for the 30-24 win.

For the game, Wesley was led by Nettie Choice (FR, Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) who had 9 kills and 8 blocks, while Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) added 6 kills and 5 digs.  Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) had 5 kills, 7 aces and 17 digs and Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) had 5 kills and 2 blocks in the Wesley win.

Wesley Wins in 5 over Visiting Misericordia, 3-2
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (6-13, 2-6) defeated conference opponent College Misericordia by a final score of 3-2 (30-27, 18-30, 22-30, 30-23, 15-9), in volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.  The win is Wesley's third in four games.  Nettie Choice (FR, Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) led Wesley with 17 kills and 8 blocks, while Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) had 16 kills, 15 digs and 3 aces to lead the Wolverines.

Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) added 13 kills and 12 digs and Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) had 9 kills and 4 blocks.

Wesley Drops Tough Matches to Shorewomen, 3-0
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (5-13) fell to non-conference opponent Washington College (5-16) by a final score of 3-0 (30-27, 30-24, 30-21), in volleyball action at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium on Thursday night.  Wesley opened up game 1 strong as they had a 26-24 advantage before the Shorewomen reeled off a 6-1 run to take the opener.  Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) led Wesley with 5 kills and 3 digs, while Nettie Choice (FR, Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) had 3 kills and 6 blocks.  Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) had 2 aces and 5 digs for the Wolverines.

Wesley Cruises to Win over Trinity, 3-0
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (5-12) defeated non-conference opponent Trinity University by a final score of 3-0 (30-15, 30-8, 30-18), in volleyball action on Saturday morning at the Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.  The win is Wesley's second consecutive win.

Wesley was led by Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) who had 9 kills and 3 aces, while Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) also had 9 kills and added 6 digs.  Both Doda and Stacey Mlynarski (JR, Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) both had 13 service points for Wesley.  Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) added 7 kills and 3 blocks in the win.

Wolverines Win First Ever Match in Conference Play
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (4-12, 1-6) defeated conference opponent Rosemont College by a final score of 3-0 (30-8, 30-12, 30-15), in volleyball action on Wednesday night.  With the win, the Wolverines earned their first ever win as a part of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).  Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) had 8 kills on the night, while Nettie Choice (FR, Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen), Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) and Lara Krygier (SO, Middletown, DE/Middletown) all had 5 kills apiece.  Ashley Hearn (SO, Delmar, DE/Epworth Christian) added 11 assists in the Wesley win.

Crimson Eagles Drop Wesley, 3-0
LANSDALE, Pa. - Wesley College (3-12) traveled to non-conference opponent Philadelphia Biblical University, falling to the Crimson Eagles by a final score of 3-0 (30-17, 30-22, 30-26), in volleyball action on Tuesday night.  Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) had 8 kills, while Ashley Hearn (SO, Delmar, DE/Epworth Christian) had 11 assists.  Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) had 4 kills in the effort for the Wolverines.

Wesley Loses Close Match to Falcons, 3-2
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (3-11, 0-6) came close to winning its first ever match in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC), but Cedar Crest College was able to come away with 3-2 (27-30, 30-27, 28-30, 20-30,15-12) win, in volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.  Wesley opened up the day with a 30-27 win, but Cedar Crest answered right back with two wins to go up 2-1. With the Wolverines down 8-3 in the fourth game, Nettie Choice (FR, Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) had 7 service points to give Wesley a 10-8 advantage before the Falcons broke the serve.  Wesley seemed to take the momentum at that point, winning the 4th game 30-23 to force a fifth game.

After the game started off 2-2, the Falcons broke the Wesley serve going up 3-2 and reeled off three more points to take a 6-2 lead.  The Wolverines had 3 service errors in the last match that kept Wesley from gaining ground on the Falcons, who won the game 15-12.

Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) had 14 kills and 5 digs on the day for the Wolverines, while Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) had 10 kills and 3 blocks.  Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) had another solid day adding 8 kills, 4 service aces and 6 digs in the loss. 

Wolverines End Streak, Win 3-0 over Trinity
WASHINGTON, D.c. - Wesley College (3-10) snapped its six-game losing streak defeating Trinity Univesity by a final score of 3-0 (30-27, 30-15, 30-15), in volleyball action on Thursday night in the nation's capital.  Wesley will host conference opponent Cedar Crest College on Saturday, September 30th at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium, starting at 1:00 PM.

Wolverines Fall Short Against Alvernia, 3-2
READING, Pa. - Wesley College (2-10, 0-5) fell to conference opponent Alvernia College by a final score of 3-0 (27-30, 30-19, 30-20, 27-30, 15-12), in volleyball action on Tuesday night.  Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) led Wesley with 15 kills, 4 digs and 2 blocks.  Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) had 6 aces, while Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) had 9 kills and 3 blocks.

Wesley Swept in Final Day of Invitational
YORK, Pa. - Wesley College (2-9) dropped both matches at the Spartan Best Western Westgate INNvitational, in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.  Wesley opened up play against the host school York College, falling 3-0 (30-9, 30-14, 30-17) and finished off the day by losing to Lebanon Valley College 3-0 (30-15, 30-11, 30-27).

Volleyball Drops Two Matches at York Invitational
YORK, Pa. - Wesley College (2-7) traveled to the Spartan Best Western Westgate INNvitational at York College losing both matches on Friday night.  Wesley fell to Albright College 3-2 (30-17, 26-30, 30-23, 28-30, 15-12) and to Susquehanna University 3-0 (30-20, 30-12, 30-21).  The Wolverines are now 2-7 on the season and will play on Saturday, September 23rd against York College at 10:00 AM and will finish the tournament at 2:00 PM against Lebanon Valley College.

Wesley Spiked by Cavaliers, 3-0
RADNOR, Pa. - Wesley College (2-5, 0-4) was shut-out by conference opponent Cabrini College by a final score of 3-0 (30-20, 30-19, 30-28), in volleyball action on Wednesday night.  Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) had 11 kills for the Wolverines, while Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) added 8 kills.  Lara Krygier (SO, Middletown, DE/Middletown) added 5 kills and 12 digs for the Wolverines.

Griffins Shut-Down Wolverines, 3-0
GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - Wesley College (1-3, 0-3) lost to conference opponent Gwynedd-Mercy College by a final score of 3-0 (30-14, 30-15, 30-14), in volleyball action on Thursday night.  Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) led Wesley with 3 kills and 12 digs, while Lilia Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) added 3 kills and 10 digs.  Shauna Jacobs (FR, Ocean View, DE/Indian River) led the Wolverines with 14 digs.

Wesley Spiked by Marywood in Volleyball
SCRANTON, Pa. - Wesley College (1-2, 0-2) was defeated by conference opponent Marywood University by a final score of 3-1, in volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.  Wesley fell by scores of 30-20, 30-21, 28-30 and 30-24.

Wolverines Rebound with 3-1 Win
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Wesley College (1-1) traveled to non-conference opponent Chestnut Hill College, defeating the Griffins by a final score of 3-1 (30-18, 21-30, 30-21, 30-20), in volleyball action on Thursday night.  Lilia Lopez-Brekke (FR, Magnolia, DE/Caesar Rodney) led the Wolverines with 10 kills, 5 aces and 16 digs.  Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.) had 8 kills, while Shauna Jacobs (FR, Ocean View, DE/Indian River) and Sonila Doda (JR, Garfield, NJ/Garfield) both added 10 digs apiece.

Wesley will next travel to conference opponent Marywood University on Saturday, September 9th at 1:00 PM.

Wolverines Shut-Out by Knights
DOVER, De. - Wesley College (0-1, 0-1) was shut-out by Neumann College (3-2, 1-0) in the Wolverines' season opener by final scores of 16-30, 12-30, 19-30 in volleyball action on Tuesday night, at Jim and Shirley Wentworth Gymnasium.  Lori Voorhees (JR, Bel Air, MD/Harford C.C.)  led the Wolverines with 4 aces and 4 kills, while Shauna Jacobs (FR, Ocean View, DE/Indian River) had 9 digs and 7 perfect passes.

Wesley will travel to Chestnut Hill College on Thursday, September 7th at 7:00 PM.

Volleyball Season Preview
DOVER, De. - The Wesley College volleyball team will enter its second season in intercollegiate competition with the start of the 2006 season.  Head Coach Cindy Savage has helped lead the initial stages of fielding a successful volleyball program at Wesley and looks to further the program in year two.  "We feel that our program is where we want it to be for only our second intercollegiate season," said Coach Savage.

Wesley returns 3 letter-winners from 2005 and welcomes 11 newcomers to the roster to a team that finished with a 4-11 record.  Sonila Doda (JR, RS, Garfield, NJ/Garfield), Ashley Hearn (SO, S/RS, Delmar, DE/Epworth Christian) and Stacey Mlynarski (JR, DS, Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) all return to help lead the young Wolverine squad into Wesley's first and last year in competition in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC), before moving into the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in 2007-2008.  Coach Savage is looking for her three letter-winners to aid in the development of the young squad that has a lot of athletic ability.  "Our squad is very inexperienced, but we have some very talented young players," stated Coach Savage.

With the young team that Wesley has, Coach Savage knows that her 2006 team will go through the ups and downs of a full schedule.  "Our goal for the season is to compete to our potential and get 1% better each time we step on the court," added Coach Savage.  The Wolverines will open up the season on Tuesday, September 5th as they will host Neumann College, which will also be Wesley's first conference match.  Wesley will then be on the road for their next nine matches.

Volleyball Preseason Poll Released
DOVER, De. - The Wesley College volleyball team has been selected to finish 11th in the preseason coaches poll announced on Tuesday afternoon.  Wesley is coming off their inaugural season as an intercollegiate program, posting a 4-11 record.  This will be Wesley's first and last year in competition in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC), before the Wolverines will compete in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).  Head Coach Cindy Savage enters her second season with the program.

Eastern University, the nine-time defending champions, received the first place nod receiving all 12 first-place votes.

Volleyball Lands Two for 2006
DOVER, De. - Head volleyball coach Cindy Savage is pleased to announce that Lilia Brekke from Caesar Rodney High School and Shauna Jacobs from Indian River have committed to play volleyball for the Wolverines in 2006.  The upcoming 2006 season will be Wesley's second as an intercollegiate program and first year competing in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).  "Both Lilia and Shauna are great academic students and quality volleyball players from quality programs.  We are extremely excited to have them join our volleyball program," stated Coach Savage.  "The addition of these two quality players will improve our level of play as we enter the PAC for our first season."  The Wolverines finished 4-11 in their inaugural season.

Wesley will open up the season on Saturday, September 2nd as they will travel to face Philadelphia Biblical University in a non-conference match at 1:00.
