ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Sonila Doda led Wesley in kills and committed just one hitting error, but St. Mary's defended its home court in a Capital Athletic Conference match, turning back the Wolverines in three games. Game scores were 30-12, 30-25, and 30-28.
Doda had a team-high eight kills and hit .438 in the match. The senior also served up three aces.
Nettie Choice had six kills and tied a pair of Seahawks for the match high with three blocks. Emily Brooks had 13 digs and Ashley Hearn handed out 19 assists.
St. Mary's took command of the match early with a 30-12 win in game one. The Seahawks hit .484 in the game, while Wesley struggled out of the gate. The Wolverines hit .000 in the first game, before rebounding to keep things close in the next two.
Wesley took a 13-6 lead in game two before St. Mary's mounted a comeback, tying things at 18-18 and going on to win 30-25. In game three, it was the Wolverines who fell behind 13-6 before mounting a comeback. Wesley tied things at 25-25 after an ace by Hearn and again at 28-28 after a Lori Vorhees kill before ultimately falling 30-28.
