SALISBURY, Md. - Something had to give when Wesley, winners of a school record eight straight, and Salisbury, in the midst of a 15-match streak, squared off in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) volleyball match.
When it was over, the Sea Gulls (16-1, 3-0 CAC) swept the Wolverines (9-4, 1-1 CAC) to extend their streak to 16 in a row.
Salisbury won both of the first two sets by matching scores of 25-12 before Wesley regouped in the third set. The Wolverines led 8-7 after an attack error by the Sea Gulls and kept it close before ultimately falling 25-23.
Lilia Brekke led Wesley with five kills. Shanan Higgins served up five aces. Nettie Choice had three blocks.
The win by Salisbury gives the Sea Gulls their best start since the program's first season in 1972, when that team started 16-0.
The Wolverines will look to rebound when Marymount (3-10, 1-2 CAC) visits Wentworth Gymnasium on Thursday, September 25.
