DOVER, Del. - Wesley College tied the match at 1-1 with a win in the second set, but a powerful Stevenson team overpowered the Wolverines to win in four sets.
The Mustangs (12-1, 2-0) ran away with the first set 25-11, but Wesley (3-16, 0-2 CAC) battled back in the second set. The Wolverines led 23-19 before holding on for the 25-23 win to even the match at one set apiece.
In the third set, Wesley went ahead 2-0 behind the service of Carle Ax (Lewiston, Idaho/Lewiston), but did not win another point on service the rest of the set as the Mustangs won 25-17. In the decisive fourth set, Stevenson ran out to a 12-4 lead to put the match away.
Kristen Roberts (Loveland, Colo./Middletown (Del.)) led Wesley with 11 kills and added seven digs. Lindsay DiMuzio (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) added nine kills and two blocks. Ax dished out 19 assists, served a pair of aces and picked up 11 digs. Ashlynn Maloy (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) led the team with 15 digs.
The Wolverines are back in action on September 25 at the Baruch Quad, where they face Richard Stockton and Ramapo.
